This well constructed and firmly packed cigar comes as a pic in the December 2023 My Monthly Cigars box. Noted is this cigar's oily habano wrapper that boasts some veining, a patina leather appearance and a smooth texture. A faint pre ignition aroma of wood and hay meet on the olfactory as a straight cut leads us to an open draw.
Foot band removed we toast/light and get into some mildly bitter notes of toasty cedar and a faint coffee value that joins on the finish. Getting into the inch marker and although consistent, we note a sweet cereal quality that joins onto the toasted qualities. The bitter taste is long gone as a much richer and sweeter note lingers on the finish and mouth.
Getting into the 2/3 we note consistency as the toasted experience moves towards medium. The burn is slow moving and on a thin ash fringe, grows some medium gray stacks. Nearing the ½ way point and impressive is the slow and nearly perfect burn as a pepper and ultra mild floral note is noticed during the finish. The mouth is oily and a toasted sugar is prominent.
Into the last 3/3 and a shift into medium+ as the toasted value and pepper shifts gears and become a prominent presence. Still sweet on the pallet, we note toasty wood and that cereal quality that is reminiscent of sweet shredded wheat. Into the concluding nub where we move into almost full. Consistent, we note a great smoking experience.
A fantastic and slow burn alongside some great blending makes for a straightforward , yet very pleasing smoke.
